A solid Cabernet Sauvignon with profound structure and vigorous fruit, the essential Coonawarra style, exuding rich bramble, berries and cassis aromas characters over soft, elegant tannins. Extended maturation in the finest French oak contributes to the wine's overall balance and drinkability. Hollick»
Adam Jackson bought the first blocks of land at the heart of Marlborough and took up farming in 1855. His wife planted a gumtree along Jacksons Road, it remains a regional icon and can be seen on the Jackson estate label. Jackson Estate»
Whole bunches and oak barrel ferments, the costly extravagance of three years tirage on sedimentery yeast lees, each bottle individually riddled by hand, disgorged and sent to cellar for the ultimate indulgence of extra age before release, Pamela is the zenith of the sparkling winemaker's art. Her luxurious effervescence exudes brioche, tarte tatin and French boulangere, her creamy textural mousse unravelling ribbons of rich yeasty autolysis, crème caramel and baked fruits. Wicks»
From two blocks of superior vines grown to the McLaren Flat estate, hand planted by the Scarpantoni brothers in the early 1970s. Brothers Block claimed Australia's most illustrious award, the highly coveted Jimmy Watson trophy in 2007. Scarpantoni»
Born at Guildford, very near the Houghton Swan Valley wineworks, Dr John Gladstones was an internationally acclaimed scientist who identified the Margaret River in 1965 as being world class for planting vines and growing grapes. Dr Gladstones also played a role in the development of the Frankland River region, Pemberton and Manjimup. Houghton»
Woodhenge is about big ideas, in the manner of cyclopean fences built by Australia's early settlers. A wine of great elemental sculpture, the assemblage of individual vineyard and sub-regional characteristics is the key to success of the style. Wirra Wirra»
Outstanding Langtons Classification. The locals around the Lovedale property say that the sandy soils are so poor, that even the rabbits have to bring a tucker box just to survive! The lean and mean terroir is elemental to the long lived, fine boned style. Mount Pleasant»
Lenton Brae can justifiably claim to be one of Margaret River's leading proponents of the ebullient fusion between Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, having claimed multi trophies and gold medals for the style at regional, state and national competitions. The site was chosen after a chance conversation with the owner of Moss Wood who mentioned that the soils were uniformly excellent and equal to those of the eminent vineyard nearby. Lenton Brae»
When Johann Gramp planted his vines along the banks of Jacob's Creek in 1847, he was less preoccupied with the making of history but more concerned with the selection of rootstock and fruit, his choice was Shiraz. Jacobs Creek still retain access to some of the oldest vines in Australia and can call on harvests of the finest Barossa Shiraz every year. Jacobs Creek»
The first and final word in world class Barossa Cabernet, aged in a luxurious selection of completely new French oak hogsheads. The Ashmead block is so low yielding that it was almost gutted and re established to more productive plantings. Elderton»
Vintaged from a single block of magnificent old vines on the cooler climes of Eden Valley high. Heirloom are all about identifying and rejuvenating superior parcels, a patient and painstaking approach to the resurrection of venerable elder plantings, for the realization of profoundly structured, powerful yet elegant wines. Heirloom»
Glenrowan is a place of great natural endowments, it grows the finest fruit and hosted a famous gold rush. Glenrowan has remained quarantined from any exchange of viticulture since the 1890s, a felicitious quirk of history which has preserved the provenance of some great old vineyards. Baileys Glenrowan»

Chardonnay by Toolangi of Yarra Valley. A reduction in the oak regime allows the fruit to shine and the subtle talc texture and baking spices to evolve on the finish. Vinified from top quality fruit grown to superb vineyards at Dixon's Creek and Yarra Glen, crafted by the winemaking teams of Shadowfax and Yering Station. Toolangi is a former cattle grazing property, re established to vines in 1995. Match it with WA scampi, chicken caesar or whiting caprice.

Toolangi Vineyards grow and source the highest quality grapes from within the Yarra Valley and put them into the hands of the best winemaker

Toolangi Vineyards are firmly committed to making the finest wines possible. Their winemakers include eminent names like Rick Kinzbrunner, Matt Harrop, Tom Carson, David Bicknell and Willy Lunn at Yering Station. This talented team shares the Toolangi passion for crafting nothing but the most exceptional wines. Toolangi's efforts are principally made from estate grown fruit, supplemented when needed with high quality parcels grown to the Yarra Valley. Toolangi's viticulturalist, whilst maintaining estate owned vineyards, is additionally responsible for the management of vineyards of outsourced fruit, so that consistent quality is assured. The immensely favourable response from enthusiasts is most rewarding to the Toolangi team.

Toolangi acquired and planted their Yarra Valley estate property in 1995, welcoming the first vintage of Toolangi in 2000. Now celebrating many years of producing wines, Toolangi have strived from the onset for outstanding quality. Their wines are a tribute to a great vineyard site and passionate winemakers. Toolangi produces wines with distinctive personalities, and each showing a strong sense of place. Grapes from exceptional sites, together with the experienced hand of outstanding winemakers, subtly comes into play with each wine. The critical acclaim from some of the country's foremost reviewers confirms the efficacy of Toolangi's approach.

Located in the Yarra Valley approximately 48 kms North East of Melbourne at Dixon’s Creek, Toolangi Vineyards was named for its position, adjacent to the picturesque Toolangi State Forest. Garry and Julie Hounsell purchased the former cattle grazing property in early 1995 and planted the first 0.5 hectare of vines that December. Since 1995 further plantings have been progressively established, the property now being fully planted with some thirteen hectares under vine.

Toolangi’s vineyard site is ideally suited to the cultivation of high quality grapes as it is well drained with gentle slopes, all with a coveted northeasterly orientation. The soil is predominantly clay, covered by a thin layer of topsoil of shale and stone. Over the past 20 years the Yarra Valley has developed an enviable reputation for its wines, particularly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. At Toolangi these classic varieties have been the focus along with Shiraz and a smaller planting of Viognier.

Yields are restricted to no more than 2.5 tonnes per acre in order to maximise quality. Heavy pruning and crop thinning are used to reduce the naturally higher yields that the Yarra Valley climate can produce. Lower yields result in fruit that has more flavours and complexities which enables the production of our premium quality wine.

The Yarra Valley's normally good rainfall is supplemented as required by drip irrigation during the growing season. This helps to ensure the vines avoid stress allowing for the production of premium fruit. When grapes are sourced from other vineyards in the Yarra Valley, Toolangi's viticulturalist also supervises these vineyards to ensure the cultivation of premium quality fruit. Toolangi's aim is to produce outstanding wines, a process which begins in the vineyard. Toolangi produces three main varietals. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. Within each of these varietals, the team endeavour to produce a range of 3 wines, Toolangi, Toolangi Estate and Toolangi Reserve. Weather conditions during the growing season determine the quality of fruit and whether Reserve wines are produced each vintage.

The team always look forward to the release of the all Toolangi wines, in particular the highly feted chardonnay, arguably the best in the state. Toolangi wines are deliberate and forward, well structured and full of flavour. "It’s little wonder drinkers are flocking back to chardonnay in their droves. Crafted by the winemaking teams at Shadowfax and Yering Station for Toolangi owners Garry and Julie Hounsell, this is a real stunner. Elegant and classy with aromatic, pristine stonefruit flavours, integrated nutty characters, unobtrusive oak and a lingering, clean finish. Drink with lobster!" -Illawarra Mercury
