The quality of Shiraz grown to parched vineyards in Victoria's rugged western districts, has been well known throughout the world of wine since the days of gold rush and early settlement. After several decades of crafting Australia's most memorable vintages, Mike Press is more sanguine than ever that great wine can only come from the finest vineyards. His dedicated hands on approach means that he is personally involved in every stage of the winemaking, from pruning the vines and inspecting grapes, right to plunging the ferments and bottling his finished wine. The historic goldfields at Beechworth are now delivering a different type of gold, in the form of suave white wines with panache and style. Pinot Gris has taken well to the cooler climes and mineral rich soils atop the steeply sloped aspects. Brokenwood»
Yealands Seaview Vineyard is exposed to some of the toughest growing conditions in Marlborough, high sunshine and billowing winds wind, cool nights and low rainfalls for a smaller, thicker skinned Pinot Gris of exciting intensity. Fruit from the relatively flat, coastal L6M block, provides a pure mineral elegance to the structural backbone. Yealands Estate»
Richard Bailey planted one of the first Glenrowan vineyards in the 1860s. The Bailey estate survived the downturn of the Victorian gold rush, the ravages of phylloxera and excesses of the Kelly gang, it endures to this day, producing some of the nation's most intensely flavoured and historically significant wines. Baileys Glenrowan»

Samuel Dunn was an early Amherst resident, one of the first settlers to plant grapes in the Pyreness. His land was exploited for sheep grazing, until diggers found the locality alive with gold. Amherst»
A Shiraz of power and elegance, Heathcote Estate claimed a significant gold medal at the prestigious London International. Inspired by the amazing depth and character of Terra Rosa Shiraz, the Bialkower and Kirby families determined the most idyllic location to propogate vines for an ultra premium Shiraz to rival Australia's finest. Heathcote Estate»
When Johann Gramp planted his vines along the banks of Jacob's Creek in 1847, he was less preoccupied with the making of history but more concerned with the selection of rootstock and fruit, his choice was Shiraz. Merlot by Moondah Brook of Perth. A rich supple palate of red cherry and licorice plum flavours supported by firm tannins and framed by subtle cedary oak. So remarkably articulate is the Merlot of Australia's west, that it drinks beautifully while young as a pure varietal wine. Managed since inaugural release by Western Australia's most eminent winemakers, Moondah Brook can count on the harvests of mature estate vineyards throughout the finer viticultural precincts of West Australia. Immediately approachable upon release, preferably alongside pork banners, veal culets or lamb.

Moondah Brook

http://www.moondahbrook.com.au/ - Moondah Brook - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
The original Moondah Brook Estate was established in 1968, a 92 hectare property located at Gingin, north of Perth

The vineyard was established because of its unique climate. Sea breezes in the afternoon and gully winds of an evening assist with the reduction in temperatures at ripening time, allowing the wines to display great varietal character.

Today, Moondah Brook is a range of varietal wines that reflect this philosophy of allowing the varietal character to shine. Sourced from premium vineyards, the wines are a true expression of Western Australian varieties. Moondah Brook Verdelho has long been recognised as a pioneer wine style, supported by Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc varieties.

Moondah Brook unwooded Chardonnay varietal wine, offers a lively and vibrant alternative to the oaked style while the Rose Cabernet is vibrant and alive with raspberry and lavender. The newest addition to the range is a varietal Merlot from Western Australia.

Premium quality and contemporary labelling, the refreshed branding is recognisable by the distinctive brook, which is colour matched with each variety. Moondah Brook wines are fruit driven with spicy, full-flavoured styles that make them perfect food wines.
