It was the great Cabernet wines of Bordeaux which inspired Bill Taylor to diversify from imports and retail into the highly fraught pursuit of grape growing. An ardent enthusiast of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Taylor had a keen enough palate and nose to determine that the most auspicious lands for Cabernet Sauvignon were amongst the idyllic rolling pastorals of Valley Clare. Taylors»
The top cut, off a mere four hectares Pinot Noir, eighteen different rootstock and clone, all picked by hand and separately fermented. Parcels are treated to minimalist vinification and the extravagance of a Vaslin Bucher basket press, followed by a year in the finest French oak barriques and three years cellaring before release. Pressing Matters»
Characterized by its controlled power, elegance and finesse, a very special Pyrenees wine which redefines the great Cabernet virtues of stature, structure and length. From parcels of Pinot Noir, planted to the foot of tailings, left behind by waves of prospectors who pursued their fortune amongst the open pits and mines on Adelaide Hills during the gold rush of the 1850s. Crushed and destemmed straight into the press with minimal time on skins to extract the perfect pink, its blushing lipstick hues presage a cornucopia of lifted strawberry and cherry blossom characters, ruby grapefruit and luscious jube over a length of tasty, toothsome tannins, the perfect Rosé for lazy afternoons or late night soirées. Bird In Hand»
Richard Bailey planted one of the first Glenrowan vineyards in the 1860s. The Bailey estate survived the downturn of the Victorian gold rush, the ravages of phylloxera and excesses of the Kelly gang, it endures to this day, producing some of the nation's most intensely flavoured and historically significant wines. Baileys Glenrowan»
By the winner of the 2014 Jimmy Watson Trophy! During his time as chief red wine maker at Hardy's, Stephen Pannell became intmate with many of the greater Adelaide region's most splendid sites. A predominantly Syrah wine with a de rigueur inclusion of good Viognier, all picked off a superior low yielding Adelaide Hills vineyard. SC Pannell»
Of particular importance to Shadowfax are the very close relationships with a select group of growers who provide harvests of the most intensely flavoured fruit. A prolific trophy winner, Shadowfax are a refreshing new wave, vigorously fruit driven, livelier than her Victorian siblings, characterised by slatey, flavoursome acidity, a touch of lees complexity and judicious dryness. Some Young Punks

http://someyoungpunks.com.au/ - Some Young Punks - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
We wanted to do something that had been done before, to make exceptional wine with small estate charm

We blame the booze. The whiff and the swill did us in and all that was left to do was to make more. In many ways the wines that weren’t worth the pull on the cork caused this as much as the wines that we will never have the pleasure of decorking again.

http://someyoungpunks.com.au/ - Some Young Punks - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines

The ethos is simple, to create charismatic wines that are true to what Some Young Punks think wine is about. This is Passion, a monster bigger than the three of us that leads us to soapbox, grandstand and sometimes pass out on the couch.

We believe that awesome wine is a powerful aid to creativity, there is always the danger that while drinking a bottle of Punks, you may also be pushed to acts of complete random. It keeps us ticking over.

I refer you, the jury, to the gaudy bottles of plonk stamped Some Young Punks. It's OK to judge a book by its cover , we judged the covers of books to decide on these labels.

We need you to see us, and we don't have lineage or tithe, not even a family crest to take up the papaer on the glass. These labels are as bright and bold as the wines they clothe.

Each wine, each vintage and each label is a moment that will never come again, a winemaker should only ever promise to be consistently good, not just consistent.

Each time we make a wine it may be the last wine we make, and if it isn't worthy of being the last then it will not wear the Some Young Punks name.

We believe that awesome wine is a powerful aid to creativity. The truth is that the wines so far have almost made themselves. The best fruit always does.

But even the best fruit won't jump into a crusher by itself, so we help out a little in that respect. This beautiful tradeoff left us plenty of time to talk and drink and then talk some more. And when it was time, we bottled it. Presto
