An exciting innovation in a Methode traditionnelle, enriched by strawberry. A component of Pinot Noir is treated to extended time on skins for perfect uptake of charming rose colour, to be blended back with Chardonnay after primary ferments. Lindauer»
Whole bunches and oak barrel ferments, the costly extravagance of three years tirage on sedimentery yeast lees, each bottle individually riddled by hand, disgorged and sent to cellar for the ultimate indulgence of extra age before release, Pamela is the zenith of the sparkling winemaker's art. Her luxurious effervescence exudes brioche, tarte tatin and French boulangere, her creamy textural mousse unravelling ribbons of rich yeasty autolysis, crème caramel and baked fruits. Wicks»
A vineyard of some historical import, Bernoota is the original block, planted to the Follett family homestead along the banks of River Bremer, two decades before federation. A splendid construct of Langhorne Creek Shiraz Cabernet, selected from old vines around the distinguished Follett family vineyard, perennially released to resounding accolades. Lake Breeze»
Grove Estate became the go to vineyard for esteemed national brands on the hunt for stellar quality Hilltops Shiraz, some very choice parcels of Grove Estate found their way into the winner of the Finest Australian Shiraz Trophy. Tyrrell made a major contribution to the development of Heathcote as a world class winegrowing region. One of the earliest pioneers, they sowed the seeds and established the vines which launched the second gold rush into Heathcote Shiraz. Tyrrells»
The highly opportune Pinot Noir vines at Bird In Hand are planted on the site of an ancient gold mine, a godsend of fortuitously fertile soils, magnificent growing conditions for stellar quality Adelaide Hill wines. Fermented in own bottle and aged five years on lees in true Méthode champenoise, the term of extended maturation imparts luxurious biscuit notes, chantilly crème and frais de bois. Bird In Hand»
The uncompromising pursuit of excellence brings the Yealands team to the extreme viticultural climes of Gibbston Valley in Central Otago. It is here under the frigid cloudless night skies that Pinot Noir vines, planted to undulating granite schist soils, struggle to yield harvests of parched grapes, redolent with cherry berry perfumes, bursting with an intensity of flavour and wrapped in a muslin of seamless, velvet tannins. Yealands Estate»
A single vineyard, strongly terroir wine by maestro Ken Helm AM, from fruit picked off neighbour Al Lustenberger's property, only released under the premium black label if it reaches the highest quality benchmarks. Since 2005 the collaboration of Lustenberger and Helm has claimed more than fourteen trophies. Helm»
After several decades of crafting Australia's most memorable vintages, Mike Press is more sanguine than ever that great wine can only come from the finest vineyards. His dedicated hands on approach means that he is personally involved in every stage of the winemaking, from pruning the vines and inspecting grapes, right to plunging the ferments and bottling his finished wine. A vigorous diction of new world Chardonnay, framed within a tasteful veneer of judicious oak, crafted by an artisanal winery that's claimed best white and best red wine trophies, as judged amongst peers at the Mornington Peninsula Vignerons Association. Willow Creek offers a stylishly proportioned palate, finishing as crisp as the maritime winds which enthuse the Peninsula. Willow Creek»

Twice Gold Medal Challenge International du Vin! Moscatel and Gewürtztraminer grapes, grown to estate vineyards on the mountains of the Upper Penedes, form the backbone of fruit for Viña Esmeralda, a delicate but strunningly fragrant wine. The dry fig and raisin characters of Moscatel de Alejandría give Esmerelda it's luscious and flavourful palate, fleshed out by the orange of Frontignac or Moscatel de Grano Menudo as the Spanish say, further enhanced by the complex aromaticness and spice of the vivacious Traminer.. David Traeger

http://davidtraegerwines.com.au/ - David Traeger - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
David Traeger is known throughout Australia for making one of the nation's most popular Verdelho wines

Following an award winning history at Michelton, Traeger struck out on his own, and was met with immediate success. David Traeger established his operation at the Nagambie Lakes of central Victoria in 1978, focussing on Shiraz and Verdelho. Nagambie Lakes is a sub-region of the Goulburn Valley, located in the south along the Goulburn River. The soils formed on the banks of the Goulburn River are red brown, clay loams of moderate fertility with ridges of red sandy loams thrown up by the river system and more ironstone deposits located to the west.

Here some classic European varieties have found their own niche such as Syrah (Shiraz) originally sourced from France's Rhone Valley and Verdelho from Portugal. The David Traeger Cellar Door is located in an historic 1870 wine cellar next to the picturesque Nagambie Lake.

David Traeger’s vineyards are located at Hughes Creek south of Nagambie, and at Graytown where a historic vineyard (planted in 1892) of Shiraz and Grenache has been brought back into production. The range of wines has deliberately been kept limited, it includes a Cabernet blend (including Merlot and Cabernet Franc), a Shiraz and the highly trumpeted Verdelho (a white variety showing strong consumer interest).

David maintains full control of the David Traeger Wines range and also holds a seat on the Dromana Estate board of directors, bringing twenty-five years of successful winemaking experience to the wine group. David Traeger wines are sold throughout the Australian eastern states markets and a growing export presence is being established in the UK, US, Singapore, Germany and Japan. David's aim at winemaking has always been, to produce elegant and distinctive wines through traditional methods, with the benefit of the latest technology.

The product range has deliberately been kept limited. The David Traeger Verdelho is an attractive and tantalizing dry white, showing all the hallmark characters of the Verdelho variety. The wine displays lemon, lime and tropical aromas with a touch of white peach, melon-like mouth-filling flavours, an excellent fine acid structure and a lingering, stylish finish.

"A very handy location sets you directly adjacent to the local Visitor's Information Centre which makes David Traeger a great place to make a start. The Verdelho here has been making waves for a few years and the Shiraz is a lovely soft mouthful of rich and ripe fruit!" -Sydney Morning Herald, "David Traeger learned much during his years as assistant winemaker at Mitchelton and knows Central Victoria well. The red wines are solidly crafted, the Verdelho interesting and surprisingly long-lived. In 2002 the business was acquired by the Dromana Estate group, but David Traeger has stayed on as winemaker!" -Wine Companion.com.au

David Traeger's wines are approachable upon release and reward patient cellaring. David Traeger Shiraz is a medium weight wine of concentrated fruit and attractive oak and grape tannins, balanced by an excellent natural acid level. This wine displays dark cherry and truffle-like aromas and earthy flavours which are complimented by subtle oak. Ideally allow some cellaring time.
