The enthusiastic maritime climes of Martinborough are heaven sent for a style and quality of Sauvignon Blanc to rival the world's finest. Mother nature sets the stage, but ultimately it is the thoughtful viticultural practices of the Palliser Estate team, which ensures a harvest of ripe and intensely flavoured Sauvignon Blanc at every vintage. John Glaetzer is the winemaker behind Australia's most legendary sequence of Jimmy Watson Trophy winning vintages. Langhorne Creek is a place of spectacular editions Cabernet Sauvignon, powerfully structured, beautifully aromatic wines of edifying regional eloquence, gorgeous dark fruit flavours and lusciously gummy tannins. Gipsie Jack»
Named for a rare grasshopper Sigaus childi, found only at Central Otago within the Earnscleugh gold mine tailings, just across the road from Grasshopper Rock vineyard. The site is fortuitously harsh and sufficiently challenging to make the vines work their hardest. Grasshopper Rock»
Clare Valley Shiraz is internationally renowned, remarkable for its spectacular complexity, elegance and poise. Bill Taylor planted Shiraz with a view to formulating the very style which has won primacy throughout the world of wine. Taylors»
Take a lesson from the well versed Rosé rectors on the Cotes du Rhône and you'll be adding a measure of the arcadian Cinsault grape into your Grenache ferments, conceiving an animate and engaging ochre pink wine. There's a real affinity between the balmy maritime climes of McLaren Vale and the swarthy, effusive varietals that hail from the French south. Bondar»
Tyrrell made a major contribution to the development of Heathcote as a world class winegrowing region. One of the earliest pioneers, they sowed the seeds and established the vines which launched the second gold rush into Heathcote Shiraz. Tyrrells»
An auspicious construct of Barossa Shiraz, which has claimed significant awards throughout its illustrious history, including gold at the prestigious London International. The top cut, off a mere four hectares Pinot Noir, eighteen different rootstock and clone, all picked by hand and separately fermented. Parcels are treated to minimalist vinification and the extravagance of a Vaslin Bucher basket press, followed by a year in the finest French oak barriques and three years cellaring before release. Pressing Matters»
Outstanding Langtons Classification. The locals around the Lovedale property say that the sandy soils are so poor, that even the rabbits have to bring a tucker box just to survive! The lean and mean terroir is elemental to the long lived, fine boned style. Mount Pleasant»

Kingston

http://www.kingstonestatewines.com/ - Kingston - Tasting Notes On Australian & New Zealand wines
Kingston Estate Wines has grown rapidly since Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis first developed their 40 acre vineyard in 1979 in South Australia's Riverland wine region. Today, Kingston is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one

Their son, managing director and chief winemaker, Bill Moularadellis, joined the family business in 1985 as a young Oenology graduate from Roseworthy College with a vision to produce premium wines from the Riverland. His first crush in 1986 produced 60 tonnes (principally reds) and in that year the first commercial vintage of 4,500 cases of wine was produced.

Vineyard Development In April 1998 the company commenced a development of its own vineyards. The centrepiece of this large development was the extensive planting of two emerging grape varieties - Merlot and Petit Verdot. Both varieties have been identified as perfectly suited to the warm climate Riverland region, producing wines of rare richness and structure, and are now enjoying considerable wine show success. Most recently, the Kingston 2002 Echelon Petit Verdot won top gold at the 2003 Royal Melbourne Show and was in the taste-off for the Jimmy Watson Memorial trophy.

Today, it's still proudly a family business. Success has been driven largely by export markets in the UK and Europe where consumers love our flavoursome, excellent value for money style of wine.

With the growth of the company came the expansion of production, storage and wood maturation facilities. The winery facility has the capability of producing in excess of one million cases of premium varietal wines each vintage. 60% of production is shipped overseas to the traditional markets of UK, United States, New Zealand and Sweden, along with the emerging markets of Germany, Canada, China and Singapore.

However, not content to be restricted by wine varieties and established styles, Kingston took a decision in early 1999 to secure grower contracts and source long-term fruit supply from regions outside of the Riverland.

This expanded source provided the opportunity to meet growing consumer demand while further increasing wine quality, varietal blend options and style development. This expanded fruit resource has contributed to improved wine quality and structure; most noticeably in the commercially available Kingston Estate range of wines - being more reflective of South Australia's best regional qualities.
